One helmet.
Three kinds of effort.

Creating a multi-task reward: motorbike helmet with a distance count, a course checkbox and a no-speeding-fines abstain
1

Count it, tick it, abstain from it

A new helmet priced three ways at once — ride 20,000 km, pass an advanced riding course, and six months with zero speeding fines.

Abstain task configured for six months, ending 11 Jan 2027, with the helmet as the reward image
2

The clock starts now

Abstains run on their own — six months of clean riding, counting down from the moment you create the deal.

Helmet reward mid-journey: 1 of 3 tasks complete, 11,669 of 20,000 km logged, five months of no speeding fines left
3

1 of 3 — keep riding

The course is done and struck through. 11,669 km logged tap by tap. The no-fines clock still running. No shortcuts.

The thinking behind it.

Three short reads on why this works.

Why we built this

Buying got easier than earning. Earning It puts positive friction between the idea and the Buy button — and turns waiting into a skill you train.

Read the why →

The ADHD research

A 2024 study links ADHD impulse buying to one trainable thing: the ability to defer gratification. That muscle is the whole app.

See the research →

Break a habit, earn a reward

No vaping. No doomscrolling. No alcohol for 90 days. Put a real reward at the finish line — and reset honestly if you slip.

How Abstain works →

Questions, answered.

Is it free?
Everything is free for your first 30 days. After that it's A$29.99 a year, or a one-time A$99.99 lifetime purchase — a founders price, for a limited time. Cancel during the trial and you pay nothing.
What stops me claiming a reward early?
Honesty — by design. Earning It doesn't lock your wallet; it keeps score. The claim button stays off until the cost is fully paid, every logged rep is on the record, and if you slip on an abstain there's one way out: reset the clock. The receipts are yours, and that's exactly why it works.
iPhone or Android?
Both. Your account carries your rewards, progress and history with it, so you can switch phones without losing a rep.
How do I cancel — or delete everything?
Cancel the subscription anytime in your App Store or Google Play settings. Delete your account and everything in it from inside the app: Settings → Delete Account. No emails, no hoops. Details in the Privacy Policy.
